Fredrick Brody, MD, FACS, MBA

Fred Brody, MD received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his residency at The George Washington University Medical Center and subsequently completed a fellowship in Laparoscopic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center. Since his fellowship, he has been an Attending Surgeon at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation and The George Washington University Medical Center with a major emphasis in laparoscopic surgery.

Dr. Brody is an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgery (SAGES), the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Surgeons of the Alimentary Tract. His clinical expertise includes laparoscopic surgery, particularly stomach, spleen, adrenals, pancreas, hernias, colon, esophagus, and the gallbladder. His research interests include trials regarding clinical outcomes, innovative laparoscopic techniques and instruments, and basic science studies of the GI tract. He serves as the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery Center and is an Associate Professor of Surgery.

Dr. Brody is published widely in prominent journals including The American Journal of Surgery, Surgical Endoscopy, Archives of Surgery, Surgery, JAMA, and The Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery. He has authored over 85 original manuscripts (CV attached).

Dr. Brody is currently a member of several SAGES committees including Program, Membership, and Awards. He has served on the Publications, Ethics, and Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery committees. Presently, he is the Chairman of the Membership Committee and serves on the Fellowship Council Board as the SAGES representative.
